HOSPITALITY AS A QUALITY FACTOR OF TOURIST DESTINATION OFFER AND COMPETITIVENESS

 2nd  - 3rd  N o v e m b e r  2018 BELGRADE, SERBIA On behalf of the Organisation Board we have the honour to invite you to be a participant of 7th international congress HOTELPLAN 2018, which is taking place from 2nd to 3rd November 2018 in Belgrade. The congress organiser is:
  • THE COLLEGE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT in Belgrade, in cooperation with the foreign partners and co-organisers,
  • OLD POLISH UNIVERSITY, KIELCE, POLAND, and
  • UNIVERSITY OF PRESOV, FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT, PRESOV, SLOVAKIA.
  • THE TOURISM COLLEGE OF ZHEJIANG, HANGZHOU, CHINA
The concept of this year’s congress is designed to be different from the previous ones, including the following changes: the format, the organisation, the participant structure, the activities, as well as the duration (two days instead of one):
  • The presentation of scientific and expert papers in sessions (Day 1). The potential participants who can apply are the following categories: the representatives of the academic community, researchers in various fields, tourism experts/professionals, leaders in the field of tourism and hotel management, the representatives of state agencies, social and professional organisations, students etc. The focus is shifted to the discussion which will be held after each thematic section orchestrated by the moderator. PP presentation is limited to 10 minutes and 4 slides at the most.
  • Student contest/competition (parallel activities, Day 1 and Day 2). The potential participants are teams and individuals, which are delegated by high schools, colleges and faculties in the field of hotel management, hospitality and tourism, both national and international (foreign). The contests include the following events/disciplines: creative gastronomy, pastry preparation, cocktail making, barista (coffee-making skills), hotel management, front office, tourist destination (details and instructions regarding the rules, the contest timetable and scoring system will be submitted to the applied/registered institutions and organisations in due time). The presentation gastronomy products of the selected representatives of food and hospitality industry.
  • Panel discussion (Day 2). The theme “The Critical Thinking, Comparable Case Studies and Guidelines for the Improvement of Tourist Destination Offer Quality”. The potential participants are the representatives of the academic community, researchers in various fields, tourism experts/professionals, leaders in the field of tourism and hotel management, the representatives of state agencies, social and professional organisations, students etc.
We look forward to receiving your papers, the notification of your participation in the Congress activities and the Panel Discussion, as well as the applications for participation in the student contest/competition.
 

THEMES AND TOPICS

The primary objective of the Congress is to induce and motivate the research in different scientific fields as well as to analyse the innovations in all the sectors of the hotel and tourism industry. In addition, the Congress is also directed at contributing to multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach to resolving the current issues incurred on hospitality and tourism industry in terms of globalization process acceleration, as well as the increasing changes of the economic, communicational and geo-political architecture of the world. The Scientific Committee will accept, primarily, but not exclusively, theoretical and methodological papers, conceptual models, empirical research and studies which are in accord with the general topic of the Congress and the suggested themes, as well as other relevant papers which in an original way tackle the hospitality-related and tourism-related issues:
  • Creating tourist destination identity, image and brand;
  • Tourist destination marketing and management;
  • The impact of the natural and social-cultural environment and the demand on the destination profiling and hospitality offer development;
  • Gastronomy – national, traditional, local, rural, transnational, ethnic, transnational, molecular, haute cuisine, fast food, slow food, street food,
  • Taverns and restaurants as a (sub)cultural places/non-places of the urban and regional topography (tavern-related research, specialisation, the offer contents, behaviour observation, the ambience, the guest structure);
  • The structure of the lodging facilities (hotels, apartments, hostels) – the conceptualisation and development of the hotel product based on the phenomenology of the hotel existence and the experience creation;
  • The modern/contemporary trends – innovations, creativity, digitalisation and personalisation of services in tourism and hotel management, and quality management;
  • Intercultural, interpersonal, and business linguistic communication in tourism and hotel management (socio-linguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis and storytelling);
  • Hospitality establishments as a tourist attraction (thematic, historical, monumental, iconic, unique, original, famous, historic, diffusive, etc.)
  • Human resources as the potential for hospitality development – future tourism knowledge and skills development.
Important notes:
  • The official languages of the HOTELPLAN 2018 Congress are Serbian and English,
  • There can be no more than three authors per paper (an author and two co-authors)
  • Each author (co-author) can submit only one paper.

GUIDELINES FOR TEXT PREPARATION

Technical preparation of the abstract: The Abstract (not exceeding 150 words, including 7 key words, written in English free from grammatical and spelling mistakes) should be submitted via e-mail (enclosed as a Word document) to the following address: 2018@hotelplan.rs . If the paper is written by several authors, please underline the address of one contact person. The Abstract should contain the title, name(s) of the authors, name of institution(s)/affiliation(s), and e-mail addresses. The Abstract is prepared in Windows Microsoft Word document, Times New Roman font, letter size 10 pt, Single space, Justified. Technical preparation of the paper: A4 paper format; margins: top and bottom 5 cm, left and right 4.25 cm, Single space with no space between passages, first line indented by 0.5 cm. The number of characters with spaces must not exceed 25 000 characters.
  • TITLE: 12 pt font, bold, all caps, centred
  • A blank line 10pt

PAPER PRESENTATION

Each participant will be awarded 10 minutes to make an oral/audio-visual presentation of their paper. The predicted discussion time, after paper presentation in each session, is 30 minutes. It is advisable for participants to use Power Point and other audio-visual tools (should you require any special piece of equipment, please notify the organiser in due time). The official Congress languages are Serbian and English including possible simultaneous translations.

PAPER REVIEWING PROCEDURE

The paper contents introduced in the Abstract should be consistent with the general theme/topic and objectives of the Congress as well as the listed narrow thematic fields. We are kindly asking the authors to meet the abstract and paper submission deadlines. The submitted paper should be original ( not previously published elsewhere) and written in accord with the structure and contents of the scientific paper methodology. The submitted papers are subjected to blind (anonymous) review by two impartial reviewers, and the paper acceptance/rejection decision is reached by the Scientific Board based on thier opinion/suggestion. Paper review is done in line with the criteria such as the overall quality of the paper (research structure, idea development contribution, originality, creativity), the significance of its contribution to a certain discipline/field, the paper contribution to the Congress participants, etc..

CONGRESS PROCEEDINGS AND THE POSSIBILITY FOR PAPER PUBLICATION

Positively reviewed and accepted papers will be in its entirety published in the Congress Proceedings (the thematic publication of the HOTELINK journal), which will be distributed to the participants during the Congress. The registered Congress participants will be given one copy of the Congress Proceedings/the journal.

The organisers will, based on the agreement with the „Hotel M“ hotel, provide the congress participants with the accommodation at special prices, including complimentary (free of charge) transfer from and to the congress venue – The College of Hotel Management. The accommodation under such special terms can be booked directly with/at the hotel. Regarding the accommodation booking matter,  the participants will be notified in due time.

PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION FEE

Congress participants will be registered via e-mail. The applications should be sent to the following e-mail address:
2018@hotelplan.rs, from October 15th to October 30th 2018.
Having in mind the commemoration of 15 years since the first international congress HOTELPLAN 2003 was held/organised, the Board of Managers of the College of Hotel Management have decided to provide all the interested participants with COMPLIMENTARY (FREE OF CHARGE) PARTICIPATION IN THE HOTELPLAN 2018 CONGRESS. IN OTHER WORDS, ALL THE PARTICIPANTS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE PARTICIPATION FEE.
The complimentary service includes free access to all the sessions, package material, Congress Proceedings, welcome reception, buffet lunch, coffee and refreshments during session breaks as well as the gala dinner. However, the hotel accommodation expenses should be covered by the congress participants themselves.
